Pedestrian In Critical Condition After Being Struck By Driver On LI

A pedestrian was hospitalized inc critical condition after being struck by a driver crossing a busy Long Island intersection, police said.

Nassau County Police detectives said that a Ford Fusion being driven by a 54-year-old man struck a man near the intersection of North Franklin Avenue and Fulton Avenue shortly before 6 a.m. in Hempstead on Friday, Sept. 3.

The pedestrian, a 66-year-old man, was treated at the scene for severe head trauma and transported to an area hospital for treatment by a Nassau County Police Ambulance.

Police noted that the driver remained at the scene to assist in the investigation. The pedestrian, whose name has not been released was listed in critical condition later on Friday afternoon.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
